Default Common Merganser and TCIII review

I took this image this morning with a new 1.4tc version III I got
because Arash said it was sharp.
I use the version II on my very good 300 f2.8 lens and did not think
I could tell the difference. I could. It is sharper than an already sharp lens.
    Noticeably which surprised me.
This is at slow SS, I should have been faster and this would have been
even sharper and more detailed but I was not prepared for the take-off.
I hope to use it with my 500pf if I get light. For Nikon users, it is worth it
if you have the version I or II and want to upgrade.

    Nikon D500, 300 f2.8 w/ 1.4 tcIII, 420mm, f4, 1/2000, iso1800, HH
    40% of full image.

I am glad that the combo works for you. My problems with the 1.4X III TC were the straw that broke the camel's back. See the blog post here. That said this is a very fine image. Love the sharpness, the wing position, and the tail slapping the water.

Love the action, the droplets and the wing position. You're nailing these flight shots! I'd be tempted to clone out the one droplet on the bill.

Glad you like it. Doesn’t make sense to shoot with the old obsolete TC and the new lenses.

this frame is great but not the sharpness could be better if you had faster ss

The pose is perfect with the wings all the way up. Love the splashing water as well.

Great take-off pose with perfect wing position and good splash. My first reaction was that she needed just a point or two of black added to neutrals, but after a second and third look, maybe not.
