Here is another frame shot just after midnight in the glorious Svalbard light (according to camera Exif data this was shot at 23.37.029 and being an hour ahead this was then shot at just before 1.00am in the morning). Again, the 1DX MKII delivers.

Thanks to those who posted or viewed on the last posting.

This is stunning. Great details and sharpness. Love the low POV and those whiskers on display are awesome. The eye too draws me in. Super stuff

    WOW.

This is awesome, Steve. A captivating image where the colours and atmosphere draw me in.

Love the eye and those whiskers as well as ' distended ' nostrils. Very sharp and such great detail. Can't see any noise at 10K, well exposed, DoF spot on.

You've processed this beautifully...No wonder we call you "Mr. Detail"

    Warmest regards,

Hi Steve -- Absolutely brilliant . Loved those whiskers , such brilliant details that one canon say this is shot at 10K iso , great field work and PP skills. This is right in your face image, almost coming out of my computer screen. The POV takes this to another level, superbly done.

Hi Steve ... an image with a somewhat WOW factor , well for me too .
It is not the subject itself ... the whole image is a masterpiece in terms of color/tone/detail and comp .
The only thing that bothers me a tiny bit , very minor after the second look ... does it need rotation ???? AS the water reflection ( sun ) should be straight ???!!

Surprised to see you working with such low SS .... but you did quite well at least when watched at this size. For the sake of info .... was the FP on the area between eye and nostrils ?

A pleasure to watch the PP stuff ....thanks Steve !!!!

Now talk about in your face. This walrus does not look very impressed with you or your camera. Detail looks quite nice as well. Framing is great. Image quality looks great for the ISO. You going to start rockin the 1DX MarkIII?

Folks I will reply later and thank Andreas, will check the FP and let you know. Guys & Gabriela, you all can achieve this, no question, just trust your cameras and work ETTR. And YES, Canon does deliver, as both Andreas & I have tried to always reassure you folk.

    Good morning Steve,

I also thought about the need for rotation at first, but then on the LHS the water line looks straight - could it have been a swell? Like a slight wave? I would not want to straighten because I would lose the space on the RHS.

    Warmest regards,

Just a very quick edit with some CW rotation added, to do it properly then it would be best to do it in PSCC to retain the water as per the OP, it's too tight currently.

John, I already looked and played with it a few weeks back and one is on back order, but the card slots were sealed up and currently there wasn't any software available to access the files, although I did see someone testing and reviewing the files the other day so...

I'm not sure if some folk who have the MKI need to upgrade, as they struggle with the camera settings and don't really understand how Cases work, so perhaps they should just pick up a good MKII (I have two are available now, boxed with all contents ). There are some good advancements and a couple of things I'm not 'really' sure works well, but only time will tell, but I have been shooting with Canon since '79 and won't change.

I asked because you have plenty of DOF in front and right behind the eye it is fading quickly ... no issue though , just for my interest .
The image rotation is better ....

Always good to ask and on that note... your leaping Kudu, was that single or all points activated?
