Default Osprey with fish, underside view

Headed out this afternoon and spotted this Osprey on top of a pole. I was able to snap quite a few shots before it flew away into the sun. This is one I caught as it flew away. Although I was not able to get it all in view (at 400mm) I'm happy with this one. One of the very few shots I've taken with no crop or noise reduction.

Love the underside view of both predator and prey. Your up angle and light angle did not help you here. You managed both eyes well. I too like the canvas composition and the wing cuts don't bother me at all. I'd try to slightly lighten and increase contrast on both eyes. TFS

This bird has good taste! A lovely Whiting, down my way they mostly dine on Mullet. Interesting shot.

The framing looks nice to me. Great view of that fish. You handled the light well. Nice you came away with this.

Thanks David, Colin & John. It was really a grab shot, as I was photographing it on the post looking directly at me when it flew off into the sun. Cheers.

This one doesn't work for me Paul, i like the fish but the steep angle under belly POV isn't that attractive IMO. if the osprey had looked back at you maybe... the image has a strong blue cast from the over head light and the details look a bit crunchy. the key for these shots is to get the raptor at eye level, it is of course difficult but if it were easy we wouldn't enjoy it as much

Ditto the above comments for me. I do however really like the fish, claws and backlit underwings. If this is full frame you may be able to try some creative crops to focus in on those as the head doesn't do tons IMO. Not sure if it'll work, but might be interesting to experiment. TFS
