Default Crested serpent eagle (Spilornis cheela)

Taken shortly after dawn in misty conditions, at the side of the lake this eagle was just deciding when to say he'd had enough of a marsh harrier that was hassling him.
Deciding how much to overcome the mist and determining an acceptable colour balance wasn't so easy. Everything looked ok until I tried something else then something else etc. I have settled for this interpretation I don't think it is too far from reality.

Very nice image, Jon. Colors and contrast look good on my screen. Good detail, although I'd sharpen the head just a touch more. I absolutely love the perch - it's very unique and adds a lot of interest. To me the bird is very centered and I'd shift it to the LHS and add more space to the right.

As a side note, I think this is a Crested Serpent Eagle - IMO one of the coolest birds of prey in India Well spotted!

Aditya I stand corrected, I knew I had the Crested serpent eagle somewhere, I guess because I didn't spot the crest I didn't name it correctly. I also have another crested bird of prey I am not sure if it is the crested hawk eagle? A little small in the frame , I'll see if it's worth a post.

Neat looking eagle. It looks tall and skinny hear. The background is great. Looks like that perch is used very often.

Looks good for misty conditions.Great BG.
I would move the eagle to the left of the frame. He feels very centered.
I would clone out (or crop out if moving bird to left and add in more on right) that little bit of branch poking out of LLC and the 3 little white dots on the spider web at bottom right.
I am on the fence about the perch- a bit bottom heavy but still works as is.

Awesome looking bird. BG with the fog works for me. The yellow on the bird pops really well. Another vote here for decentering the bird. TFS

it's a delight to see this rare bird, I find the perch a bit heavy and distracting, IQ is not that great here, looks like the bird was quite far....
