Default Grey Seal Iso Mystery ...

Hi all ... just for fun .
Asking you guys , what do you think about the Iso value was used by the camera ? As i shoot 90% Auto Iso !
Just by my question , you can imagine it was a higher Iso shot . But how high ...?
Light was at its premium .
Kept the shadows darker to avoid visible noise and overall the IQ is for sure not as good , as low Iso would have been used .
Overall i like it still , as it is a clean shot , low POV and the head turn worked perfect to get the right DOF with the techs . Shot perfectly ETTR ... with slightly blowing the BG

    Canon EOS 1Dx II
    EF 500 IS L II
    Tripod

    f 6,3 ; 1/1600 sec ; Iso ???

Image processed with DPP 4 and PSCC 2020 ; cropped to 80 % of FF

Thanks for looking and commenting to my previous posting .

    Cheers Andreas

Andreas I suspect it is 120K plus, and knowing you a lot plus! Good job on the noise, as you say keep the darks dark and it becomes less apparent. Inevitably the finer detail is no so well resolved but still a very pleasing image.

I'd say ISO about 40.000 Andreas?

IQ not bad at all and detail quite good on the face. I like the pose here and HA, composition works well. Awesome POV.

Well taken, you did great under the circumstances. Nicely processed too, very thoughtful, mindful of those shadows and careful not to reveal more noise.

Looks good to me Boetie, I am impressed with your thinking and skills

    Kind regards,

ISO 50,000. The camera must have saw that dark seal and raised it. You said light was at a premium. The low angle is spot on. Also like the pose.

It works for me, although I would do something about the white line on the LH flipper as viewed. Nice low POV.

Hi Andreas, my guess is 25,600 ISO? Very nice PP work and nice clean image with good low POV and pose.

    Hello Andreas!

Technically challenged as I may be, I think I have a 'gut feel' of things and a little experience with shooting at high ISO Never thought of checking the techs LOL, answered straight away...

Have a great rest of the week Boetie, and sorry for short answer but I've been without electricity the whole day - it''s called "load shedding". Things are about to get worse around here, oh well...

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Have not seen anyone posting an image at that high iso .... here .... come on folks , competition is opened . We can have a " battle " between brands and folks .... LOL. But i know the winner already .

Canon and Mr L. with the grey sockies ........ must laugh about myself with pleasure !!!

Hope you are doing better !!!

    Cheers Andreas

HI ANdreas -- Very late to the party but compelled to comment here as it looks a fine piece of work at such a high iso. Very nicely done and liked that ground level POV, really emphasis'es things.

Did you try a BW conversion with this ? might work well with all that high iso grainy feel.

    TFS !
