I really like this, Gail. Great colors and contrast. The comp. is well-balanced. I think the image would benefit with a slight increase in brightness, especially on the bird's face as it is darker compared to the rest of the body. I'd also raise the shadows on the perch to squeeze a little bit more detail out of it. Other than that, it's a very well-executed shot under what seems to be tough conditions.

Hi Gail, lovely capture with some cracking detail, but for me, the Blacks and Saturation are really masking some exquisite detail you have captured in the both subject and perch. Overall I love the perch, HA and framing, I just feel it needs a tweak.

Nice pose and HA, It looks like you were close, perhaps too close?
Not familiar with the species, it does appear maybe a bit saturated?

Thanks Guys. I did not touch the saturation slider and only increased vibrance by +4. Increased exposure by .10 in LR CC
Here is the original RAW with no processing or sharpening. I simply converted the RAW to JPEG. The oriole really is quite yellow.
I think I should have increased the exposure to 0.5 of a stop. The yellows would be lighter. Will post redo with a looser crop.

Really digging the moss on that perch. Killer background and a nice pose.

Repost. Brighter and decreased the saturation of yellow very slightly.
Looser crop as a 5 x 7. So I had to clone out some of the post.
I need to learn to sleep on an image once I process it and look at it the next day with fresh eyes!

Lovely look at this first-year Oriole. Nice pose and background. Repost does it.

Third time's a charm. Beautiful looking oriole very nicely captured, Gail. Great light and I like the slightly reduced size in the repost.
