This is one I captured on Cairngorm mountain at the weekend. He chose to perch on this rock, which must have been the only rock which wasn't covered in snow!!!....But, I was happy, that he perched quite close to me, and gave me a good head turn.

Great subject and head turn. Maybe a bit off the bottom.

Sweet shot Will, agree on a little less at the bottom. Nice to see its not hammered with Contrast & Blacks, allows the details to shine. Was this up at the ski lift car park?

Thanks guys for the comments, much appreciated. Hi Steve, yes at the usual spot on the left of the car park...Have you been up there recently, since the closure of the funicular railway. They reckon it won't reopen until at least September, at the earliest. It is good for the wildlife, as not so many people now go onto the mountain, and the lack of snow also keeps human activity to a minimum. I also had a look for Ptarmigan, but no show.

A fun winter bird. Good parallel pose. It would have been great had the bunting perched closer to the near edge of the rock. I could also see a version with the subject just a bit brighter on the face and undertail coverts. I love the gradient in the BG, very nice.

No Will, haven't been there for some time and obviously would give you the heads up, albeit a bit of a trek for you, even longer for me, but also would spend some time with my good friend Neil Mc.

It's well over due to be in that area, however I will be in Edinburgh for a few days in May, purely on an R&R basis.

Nice low angle here. Really like that blue in the background. Framing is right on as well. Nice and sharp.

Wonderful close-up, William. Like the detail and lovely background.
