Indochinese Blue Flycatcher (Thailand)

Formerly considered conspecific with Tickell's Blue Flycatcher which inhabits the Indian subcontinent, the very similar Indochinese Blue lurks in
middle- and low-elevation understory through Burma, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and peninsular Malaysia. They're almost always under canopy,
so I was pretty happy with this result from one of the deep forest hides.

I had to add a lot of NR on the background, but I was totally sold on the curious head angle and the attention on that orange throat!

Processed in LR CC. Beyond the strong NR, I cloned a couple poop spots of the perch

Bird looks great and love the clean BG.
The canopy reflection in the eye is quite noticeable and I would NOT clone it all out but I might minimize it by 50%- your call. Nice to see the pupil in these dark conditions.

love the bird Dorian, perch could be a bit more delicate but that's what you had. image has a bit of noise leftover, more on the BG than the bird, needs another round of delicate NR. I am tempted to clean up the two misplaced feathers just under the chin

What a beauty, Dorian. Love the head angle as well. The light is beautiful, and I kind of like the canopy reflected in the eye.

I echo the positives mentioned above. I agree with Arash re a pass of NR on the BG. Personally, I'd place the bird just slightly lower in the frame, but composition is subjective. Love that eye. Awesome shot under tough conditions!

Again I love the bird tour.. This has the worst IQ of all you have posted from this trip.
Not tack sharp but 1/125 will do that.. Great colors and head angle as you mentioned.

While not great, IQ is both acceptable and better than the Black-headed Bulbul from a few days ago. Much better feather detail here......

IQ overall looks pretty good to me. I agree with some NR though. One the white underside of the bird I see a slight halo / edge. Gail has a good suggestion on the eye. What a great looking bird. TFS

Beautiful bird; thanks for introducing us to some new ones. Colors are great, and I, too, love the quizzical pose. BG color is nice, with a touch more NR as noted. In these conditions I guess you take whatever perch the bird gives you. Lovely shot.
