    Close up of Northern Shoveler.
    70% of original 20mp D500 frame.
I know the new mirror mega pixel cameras are pretty cool,
but I guess I wonder what you get for the 61 mp or whatever
    you would not get here?

Love this Dan, not often you can get this close and personal with a shoveler where I live. Great light which has made the iridescence sing. If you have a bit more space in front od the bird I think that would help.

Regards the high MP cameras - and this is only my opinion, not scientific - then I think they are great for cropping and printing large, but not too noticeable on a fairly full frame image on most monitors.

fabulous detail but you need more room front to include all of the bill.
    Wel seen.
I would never have guessed it was cropped this much!

This is a killer close view, but I agree with Gail that the bird occupies too much of the frame. Details are money on the head.

Great tight view here. Nice to have the bill in the water. Love the feather patterns and the water drops.

Awesome tight view of this bird. I would take a bit off the RHS to bring the eye back in the frame. Amazing you got this close. For most of my work, I'm pretty happy with ~20 MP and when I print large I'm happy with the results, but I don't do big landscapes etc that maybe 60+ MP is good for. Mostly I don't want to deal with the storage both in cards and hard drives the big files require. Who knows, probably in 10 years we'll be shooting a 200 MP camera and won't think twice about it. Whatever the case, the details here are great. Greens are great too. TFS
