Great shot John. The exposure and detail look great. I'd lift the brightness on the bird's face and the eye. Maybe positioning the bird just a hair lower in the frame would be better in terms of composition. Also the legs and the tree trunk look a tad crunchy on my screen, so lowering the sharpening in those regions might help. Other than that, excellent shot!

Lovely details across the entire bird. I'm s stickler for sharp feet in woodpecker shots and his left looks great! Perch is the perfect diameter and doesn't overpower the subject. I agree you could lighten the
face a bit to improve viewer connection, but that's relatively minor.

Very Nice Image. Like the colors. I will back off from sharpening the truck as it looks crunch to me as well
Nice Frame.

Classic woodpecker pose of this female Red Belly. Nicely captured. I agree about the perch. I often find that if I sharpen the bird and perch together, the bird looks good and the perch is oversharp, as it appears to me here. I will often take the Eraser at about 20 or 25% onto the sharpening layer, just on the trunk, to back it off a bit.
