Different covey, different location from my earlier quail posts. (Still San Antonio, NM.) This one must have been the alpha male. He hopped up on the post and watched while the rest of his covey trotted across the road in front of our car, before hopping down to join them. Background is an adobe wall.

I absolutely love this image Bill. Best one yet of the quail.
Perfect HA, great BG and I personally, love the (? fence) vertical lines at the bottom of the frame. I might even be tempted to include a sliver more at the bottom.
    IQ rocks.
Only thing to suggest would be a slight boost to the neutrals.
    Congrats on a fine image!

Hey Bill, I echo all the positive comments, lovely image. I also think the mid-tones could be raised at tad or maybe raising the black. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you all. I've boosted the mid-tones to give it a little more pop. Thanks for the suggestion.

Nice pose on the bird and a killer background as well. Light looks pretty nice. Detail on the bird is superb.

This is such a gorgeous image. The bird is super sharp and the pink background is sublime. The engaging pose is pefect. I'm a stickler for no man man stuff in my frames - and have resisted shooting CA Quail on similar posts - but can almost overlook it in this instance.

I wondered how this would turn out. The back story is kind of interesting resulting in this quail's concentrated look. He may be the leader of the pack of other quails that crossed the road hurriedly. He seemed to be making sure they made it to the other side safely. The adobe wall is the perfect color for the backdrop. Well done.
