Another image from Banghavgarh, this I think was a female tiger, having previously crossed the road our guide anticipated she would emerge from this thicket - and he was right!
About 25% crop, knowing what I now know I think 1/500 sec would have proven to be considerably better.

Hi Jon, I like the 'peeping out' pose and the greenery. Typical of the forest and the habitat. I like the eye contact and agree on having a bit more SS. Tiger looks a tad dark.

I think on reflection you are right Sanjeev, it wasn't an image I could instantly decide looked right. The light was very uneven and the tiger only partly illuminated. Again I have made many attempts to provide a decent rendition but I don't think I have managed it terribly well.
I have had another look at it:-

Hey Jon , this is a really cool image IMHO .
That almost shy appearance of the tiger , when emerging from the bush amplified by the shooting angle .
Nice clear view to the head and the body partially hidden , is telling a nice story . Crop , comp are working nice together .
    Good fieldwork Jon .

On the other side i am not becoming friend with the output from the technical view . specially colors .... not mine . Your variety of different colors/tones/details ... is surprising ... in the two versions . Maybe i am too critical .... what are you thinking about the color rendition ?

Neat image of this tiger. Like how it is peering out from the bush there. The pose and eye contact is great. Also like the setting the tiger is in.

Hi Jon, the RP for me is a definite improvement.

I like the apprehensive look of the Tiger as he emerges from the bushes, but feel it's a little too tight now at the foot. I'm surprised about the noise in the image at 2500, was it under exposed, but the DoF I feel is about right, probably about f/6.3 in old money? In defence Jon I think you were and still are, finding your feet regarding IS & SS, but I agree that a tad more SS irrespective of the IS would have perhaps helped.

Colours, hard to say on the laptop and I'm not sure if my suggested tweaks may have been a bit too far, but did our discussion help? I agree with Andreas on his last comment and I'm not sure how or what I can say to help, only that we both run LR??????? Andreas, any thoughts????

Hi Jon & Steve .... taking Steve´s Question , i have no idea to be honest !!!

If i would be in your (Jon) situation i would compare for example my whites in the tiger with the whites in Steve´s or Sanjeev´s recent postings . Check the whites .... and i hope you are able to see the " dirty appearance " of the whites in your postings. Not only in this one !!!!
Personally the colors in this posting look dull and lifeless even if looking saturated , overall very yellow . Well this is my personal and for sure critical view !!!!

Do not know if i explained correctly .... for me sometimes difficult to find the right words !!!

Hi Jon , First of all i liked the peeping gaze, and those innocent looking eyes. Nice inclusion of environment , showing where these tigers live.

I liked the colours in your Op better, but not sure with the RP , looks pretty off to me.

Can you send me the RAW , If i could be of any help.

This is a nice image nonetheless.

    TFS !

    Dear Jon,

You were extremely lucky to get this close to a Tiger Love the pose you captured- super timing, and the quizzical look as he emerges from thick vegetation, hesitant and probably wondering whether it's safe to proceed...

In terms of composition I think the OP works better, colour wise the RP is an improvement although a tiny bit on the yellow side overall. Please don't despair about the PP work but just enjoy and have fun, stay a happy bunny - me thinking you are making the same mistake we all make, which is posting before we've had a decent look with fresh eyes the next day)

Have you had a chance to have another look at this image, maybe shared it with Andreas or Steve? I am also here for you whenever you need another pair of eyes, been a bit quiet for the past two weeks due to some health issues but I am back now and catching up

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
