Hi John ... he does look so cute .
Nice placement of the subject in the frame , good that you have no distracting twigs in front of the cub .
Bear color is off .... even if being cold , i think the bear does not show blue/cyan/magenta in the fur . Just my take .
Is it " easy" to find and get close to the bears .... in the smoky mountains ? Would be interested about that .

    TFS Andreas

Agree Andreas, the colouring of the bear is off, but addressing Colour noise etc will help. Even at 10K ISO I would expect more from the bear, lots of blur/fuzzing areas in the coat, but again I think a lot is stemming from NR. I would crop a sliver off the top, framing is OK.

The blurry areas might come from the very brave SS .....

Easy to see from a distance. Not easy to get close. I would say 80% of the bears i see in the smokies run as soon as they see you.

Hi John -- AGree with the above , i think you have got some nice suggestions and your image has been well decoded.

But again it is great to see a different Bear specie .

    Hello John,

Extremely cute little fella I like the way you captured him, perched on that log and looking rather mischievous Composition works well for me, not quite sure what you meant by 'medium crop' but I would assume it is about 20 % of the frame?

I too notice quite a bit of blue/cyan in the subject's fur. But that can be sorted, what concerns me more is the lack of detail on the subject, bear appears a little soft. This can be due to a number of reasons - usually lower SS not an issue with your images because you have a good technique, but the subject might have moved ever so slightly? And have you checked where FP was?

Please show us more images of this species if you have. Forgot to ask, is this an adult or a youngster? And was he/she on its own? Would be really nice if you told us more about those encounters, I would love to learn more about their behaviour and your encounters - brief as they may be - with them

Hope you have a great week ahead,

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
