    you got him in a nice habitat but the IQ has significantly suffered here, looks like it was a very large crop that has been grossly over sharpened

    David agree with Arash The bird just too much to salvage. Light looks rather harsh but I love the grass first thing I was drawn too.Keep at it patience you will get it.

    I prefer the looser crop version, but agree the IQ is not prime due to the heavy crop. It also looks like you had to deal with atmospheric distortion ("heat haze") as well. Neat habitat you found this GBH in.

    I like the habitat a lot. The light on the bird face is not perfect, that's the problem, I think. In these situations you could take several images as the bird changes head angle, until you have uniform light with no strong shadows.

    it's not such a big crop but looks like the RAW was quite soft and hazy

    I think the issue is the angle of the light. Harsh and from the back. Thanks for the input.
