Female Prairie Chicken taken at Grasslands Pierre Sd last spring. Processed with Dpp 4.10 and Photoshop neat image applied. Log is added on the lek. Prairie Chickens readily use to get a higher vantage. Sharptail Grouse which are very similar will never use. Both perch in trees go figure.Comments and critiques appreciated.

I like this shot with the bird running up the log.
    Clear, good detail and background.

Hi Kevin, nice species and good that it was side on. 1/4000 seems a bit high, but I have no idea on how quickly they move. Personally I would loose some of the negative space above, I don't think it adds, but would try to gt a bit more depth to the image, also adding some more USM helps. Watch your blacks/shadows, they are beginning to clip in the log.

Currently away and using the MacBook Pro which is not ideal, but hope the RP helps.

PS I might move your name away from the subject, too distracting I feel.

Great bird and nice walking pose on a good perch. Steve's crop and USM make the difference. Fine shot.

Nice view of this chicken! Like that you caught the bird running on the log or what looks like running. Killer background.

Hi Kevin, reviewing the Raw, sadly critical areas like the head are not sharp, mainly based on camera settings in it's set-up.

Same LR/PSCC conversion as previous file, your call on going warmer.

    Hope it helps.

    Steve
