    Default Funky chick feathers...

This image was created last year as the tricolored herons were well along in their development. This chick remains on the nest and it's near environs completely dependent on parents. The previous post of a tricolored was of a fledgling with only a few of these downy feathers left. It was early morning and clouds completely covered the eastern sun with diffuse light everywhere.

I like the pose and the hair tufts sticking up. The dark band in the upper left and the bright bit on the far right are distracting, but would be challenging to remove. There is a bit of a magenta cast on my screen. There looks to be a bit too much NR as the feathers look a bit to me plasticky. In terms of RAW conversion and NR, could you give some detail on your workflow? I'm wondering if there are some tweaks the community could suggest that would help you get some more detail out of your files. Not being critical, just wanting to help. TFS

Nice hair do! The image does look a little flat. More room all around would be nice. The bird is nice and sharp.

Bird is a bit washed out. I think you need some more contrast and/or use of the dehaze slider in LR.
The BG is not the greatest. A big step to the left to avoid the branch at the top of frame would have helped.
There is a magenta cast to the image- easy fix.
I like the comp and the hairdo!
