    Our guide knew there were spotted owlets in the vicinity of this tree, as you might guess they were well hidden, one decided to come into a more open area in order to have a good look at us. I took a few images and gently backed away.

    Hand held, the image was cropped, I didn't want to get too close.

    Camera : Olympus E-M1X
    Lens focal length : 420 mm
    Focal length in 35 mm film : 841.0mm
    Exposure mode : Manual exposure
    Photographic Sensitivity : 400
    Exposure bias : +1.7 EV
    Exposure time : 1/400 sec
    F number : F5.6
    Flash : OFF

    Tough little guys to capture. Nice direct stare, with good exposure. I might give the bird (but not the branch) just a tad more sharpening. (Focus looks like it might have been on the branch.)

    A picture of an owl is always a good thing!
    I agree with Bill about sharpening the owl a bit more.
    Having him come out onto the branch was great in terms of a clutter-free BG but that branch is a bit big for the owl.
    I would reduce the luminance of the blues in LR using the HSL tab. I think you could get some of the sky color back,

    Nice view of this little owl. Really like those eyes. Owl looks sharp to me.
