Hello John,
Glad to see you're still out and about despite the cold weather, I guess lighting conditions can be quite challenging this time of the year
Another lovely White-tail buck and it's nice that you included some environment, now I can see what December is like in your part of the world. Here in Africa it is hot and humid, have forgotten what winter is like
Good pose from the subject with a nice view of that lovely rack. Looks sharp and with good detail.
The only issue I see here is the blue cast, which is a bit too dominant IMO. I have taken the liberty to adjust WB in LR, if you feel it's too warm you can always go a bit cooler.
You also could - if you like - do a bit more NR on the background and soften the appearance of the trees and branches.
Looking forward to more images from you, and hopefully some snow flakes! Thank you so much for sharing
Kind regards,
Gabriela Plesea
I like the setting John, but find the BKG too distracting and conflicts with the subject. Agree with Gabriela on the Blue cast, but also feel you can get more from the image. I'm away and only have the laptop, so it's not ideal, but my initial take would perhaps be only these lines, however the BKG becomes even more conflicting. If you are not too in depth with PS, you can still achieve a lot from with LR.

I think it is a fine shot, my first reaction was the blue cast was a little distracting. I like both reposts, I haven't seen one of these bucks in winter, is the coat quite dark or not? Regards the background I have to confess I used to stress about having smooth creamy backgrounds, but not any more. There are two reasons for this firstly I am more often than not unable to achieve them anymore, and secondly I am not sure they accurately reflect the scene in any event. When I look at this image I see a buck with a woodland behind it, my guess this is probably how it appeared on the day and .....what's wrong with it? We all have our preferences, I think that's a good thing otherwise everyone would be saying, " that's nice"!!
