The evening light does a nice job with the tail and wing feathers. Not quite sure where to place her in the frame as she is still on the turn. And the blue/ grey keeps turning up lot in shadow on the black with a bright blue sky .Actually I quite like it
    Comments much appreciated

I like it too. The white feathers on the neck look hot ... You might try filling in the hotspot with some of the (softened) YELLOWs from the neck.

Another amazing image with the 500 PF at 700mm. The dorsal wing detail and the spread tail are spectacular.

    with love, artie

I more than just like this image - it's spectacular! The 500PF can certainly hold its own with a TC and this is a perfect example. Love the fanned-out tail and the back-lit feathers. The slightly open beak is awesome too. Agreed with Artie's suggestion re the hot neck area. I would also suggest a slightly stronger pass of NR on the wings - at ISO 1000 on the D5, I don't think we should be seeing a whole lot of noise.

A slightly personal preference, but I'd also add a few points of Cyan to the sky - as is, it has a slight red cast on my screen.

Fabulous shot Ian. I am always in awe of these birds, they are so muscular. No need to add to the above critique except that the blue looks OK to me.

love the killer pose with the calling pose, the peregrine is noisy though I think it's from lifting the top side that was shaded

    Pretty darn good Ian!
I would deal with the noise on the peregrine and decrease the blues in the sky slightly but otherwise no nits from me,

I love the backlighting shining through the flight and tail feathers! Nice vertical comp, and wicked pose. Yes to that noise - get that in check and the image will truly be spectacular.

I've had a go at suggestions and this time in Capture One (early days for me with C1). It's a late reply but grateful for any comments.

Love the dorsal pose on flights frames like this. The screaming is a bonus.
