    I realize the exposure isn't great and the male has his tail cut off. I was set up for one adult in the frame when two showed up

    Good assessment James In this case why not go tighter and deliberetly cut the back end of the bird, will close in on the real action and eliminate some of the bg distractions.

    This is another situation in which full flash will be the way to go !!! btw you did very well with the exposure !!!

    James: I love the action in this photo. Normally the nests I see are much too high for this type of shot. Good job!

    I also would go for a tighter crop. By the way, it seems to have a blue cast. Probably because of all the leaves around the birds.
