    Manual
    1/1250 f5 iso800
    Cropped from horizontal, NR to BG only, light sharpen to bird and perch only. Toned down some bright patches in the BG.

    Colin:

    Really like the detail shown. Esp. the reflection in the eye. You can see a tree in it!

    The tail feathers spreading around the perch is an interesting detail as well.

    The perch acts as a framing element here.

    A new bird to me also. Nice detail, colors look good, interesting background. I guess I wish there was more depth of field so the tail would be in focus. Thank you for sharing, Colin.

    Pretty neat perch and pose combo. Interesting marbled BG. I could see a version with more room at right. Details are good on the subject, but look odd on the oof part of the tail - perhaps caused by some extra sharpening there.

    Thanks for the comments. Daniel, no extra sharpening, I think that tail blurring is movement. The bird was not posing, I managed to capture that pose out of a lot of movement.
