From my screen porch I watch these birds on the golf course behind my house. As they walk something indicated to them when a insect or worm is below the ground. The head drops and the bill probes into the ground returning with the worm or insect. I am not sure if it is seeing, hearing or smelling that tells that a prey is below ground. The bill and decurve is perfect for what they do. This image is of a White Ibis, I believe a young bird not quite into the pure white plumage. Image captured at Lake Mirror in Lakeland, Florida. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.
