Default Early morning loon flap / directing the morning choir

This image was captured several years ago on a dark, quiet morning on the lake. I was struck by the raised feathers on the back and head. He was really giving it a shake.

D4. 600mm f/4. 1/400s. f/5.6. ISO 1000. Post in PS, with small crop from left for composition.

I intentionally left it a bit dark to reflect the early morning light (or lack thereof!)

    Advice and comments always appreciated.

    Cheers

Water Splashes are nice. I see what you mean by raised feathers on the back and head.

Wing position on left of the frame is a bit distracting to me (Minor point)

Everything else looks good to me.

Love that splashing water. Neat how the feathers on the back look. Nice low angle.

Good capture and I agree with leaving it a bit dark. Small nit, I would have removed the small orange patch above and right of the feet.

Fine capture, Randy. I agree, it's pretty cool with the raised feathers. Love the dark light and the droplets flinging off.

Cool shot -- I love your loon images. I like the moody and dark feeling. Good exposure. Action and wing flap are great. Details on the face look good. Could clone the orange bit now that I see it mentioned, but I didnt notice it right away so I'm fine either way. TFS
