Bumphead Napolean Wrasse
This male is highly distinctive as his 'bump' is about 10 times more pronounced than any I have seen elsewhere. The locals put it down to him being an elderly male, but its certainly an incredible size.
He is resident at Sha'ab el erg outside Hurghada where I try for the dolphins and he likes to hang around the boats, so is usually there at the end of the dive. He's a big old boy - 6ft plus, and will tolerate a very close approach if done right, well within touching distance. I first photographed him 2 years ago, and he has become something of a local character.
This was the day when visibility was terrible, which you can see with all the detritus in the water. I've removed the larger spots but had to leave much of it still there

You must have made it up Mike, that's a barmy creature, great POV and expression.

Hi Mike -- I really enjoy watching your UW images, and this one is another fantastic frame. Loved the specie and the details that you have got. Nicely framed and the tiny fishes in the bkg adds to the overall scene. Really well done on this and colours looks very nice as well.
TFS !

Whoa what a creature. Neat patterns and color. Really like the setting with all the fish in the background.

Amazing creature, Mike - very well captured!
Lovely colours and detail despite poor visibility. I like the composition and the way the subject 'enters' the frame, nice light from above.
Interesting to see how tiny the other fish are, in comparison with the Wrasse. He's a very special old boy, such a character, isn't he?
Tempted to suggest a small curve adjustment to bring out those lovely patterns and make him stand out even more - but it's up to you, I must admit I've never seen the species before, just imagining a more 'vivid' version
I truly enjoyed viewing, thank you so much for sharing!
Kind regards,
