    Default Harrier in flight

    Hi all,

I've been super busy the past ~6 weeks or so, so glad to finally be getting back out photographing again. This is a recent harrier frame. It was pretty low light, but when a harrier comes close...hey, you just gotta press the shutter. In post, added some canvas and noise reduction on both the bird and BG.

    Camera: Nikon D500
    Lens: 500mm f/4 + 1.4 TC
    Specs: 1/2000 f/5.6 ISO 5,600

Thanks for looking and commenting on prior posts!

Stunning capture of this magnificent bird, glad the body is just above the horizon, only wish you had more light to keep more detail.

Excellent banking pose and BG, love the under-wing view of the juvenile bird, the details aren't killer but ain't bad at all for the D500 at such high ISO, you did the best possible given the conditions . I find the colors a bit dull and muted, if mine would warm it up quite a bit

Excellent capture under the conditions, Alex. Good catchlight, and like the soft tones of the background as well.

This is beautiful Alex, even more so when you consider the ISO. Lovely underwing features , a little look in the direction of the camera, well presented

D500 in such ISO will cause some issues with respect to details but still it looks good enough to me.

I like the wing position and the framing.

Great pose and killer background. The NR probably cost you a bit of detail on the bird, but a very handsome frame under the circumstances. Was this local?

Great pose and killer background. The background is killer. Detail looks quite good for the high ISO.

Hi Alex lovely capture and for the ISO you did well, if you are in the market you may want to see the rumours on D750, perhaps even higher ISO than the 850????

Looks a bit heavy in the blacks, resolve that and you see more clarity & detail. Be careful on pushing the blue its creeping into the wing feathers. Again you were there but it may add to a more striking pending atmosphere having slightly grey/blue sky? Just an option.

Thanks all, much appreciated. One day I'll get this pose in golden light! Bill, yup this was local -- assume you know where. Thanks again all,
