    At a waterhole on a very dry landscape.
    1DXII 600 f4 III 1.4x III 840mm HH using SUV as a hide.
    Manual
    Cropped, some NR on the water, lowered exposure on the top of the head to bring out more texture, slight sharpen.

    Like the strong diagonal lines, good call on the crown exposure tweak, worked well.

    Soft background .

    I might try a version with a bit more on the right side of the frame if you have it, just to give the head a bit more room. Just personal taste.

    Nice behavior frame here. Like the diaganol perch and the drinking of course.

    These birds are fun! I like the setting and drinking action and the catchlight on the edge of the eye, but sharpness and detail are lacking across the frame. I'm not sure how much can be recovered with reprocessing as I suspect it was a problem with image acquisition. Curious on how heavy a crop this is?

    I think you are right Dorian. Even though the active AF spot is on the neck the raw file is just off critically sharp. Looking elsewhere I saw the bird out of the corner of my eye and spun around for a quick snapshot and it didn't quite lock it seems.

    I agree with the critical focus. I also agree with more space on the right side.

    Diagonal Line and colors look nice.
