Got an email from two Oklahoma birders on a nesting pair of vermillion flycatchers in a hackberry tree on Dead Indian Lake north of Cheyenne, Oklahoma. The wife and I drove there Sunday morning(about a two hour drive). The female was on the nest when we got there. I got several images, this is one of those images. Both of the birds were first year birds so the male did not have the dark vermillion color of an adult. Maybe next year. Evidently there was no record of this species in Roger Mills county.
I like the pose and the bird looks sharp. The image seems a bit dark to me, I would like a bit more seperation between the back of the bird and the bg, and I could do without the cob webs on the perch, for some reason I keep looking at them. A very pleasing image for me.
Sweet pose and sharp with good detail.. I too find my eye is drawn to the cob webs and the branch behind the birds head. Wonderful to have the opportunity to see these beauties and many thanks for sharing Duane.
Yes to sharp, good basic COMP, too dark, and BKGR branches... Welcome!

I like the composition and sharpness in this photo. A little more fill flash would have been nice. Agree about the foreground and BG distractions. Thanks for posting!
