    Default First year Pied-billed Grebe

    I presume this is a first year/juvenile individual. Adults have darker eyes as far as I know. Taken a couple weekends ago later in the morning. I was scouting for kingfisher perches when
    I noticed this bird foraging along a lake shore. I sat on a wet log for 15-20 minutes while it made its way towards me. Full frame. I would have taken off my teleconverter off if I knew it was
    going to swim by as close as it did. Can't say I particularly care for the leaf in the beak.

    Spectacular eye! Light is harsh, but you handled the exposure well. I agree about the leaf, but it is seasonal!

    Nice and sharp with good detail on the bird. The leaf is pretty neat. Like the ripples in the water.
