Summertime loon
As the leaves fall here in Michigan, and the loons have headed south, I am already looking forward to next year's activity.
Taken in June, Northern Michigan
D4. 600 f/4 at f/6.3. 1/400 ISO 800. Small crop for comp. Cleaned up a few splotches in the water. I liked that you could see several fine feathers on the bill from preening, and the bug behind the head.

I would brighten the face and eye a tad more.

Dan: Point well taken about the face. I had already done a slight curves adjustment, but went back and increased it a bit. It had been a dark day, which influenced my original choice, I often render images as I remember them.
