    Default CA shouldered hawk

Red-shouldered hawk. This image shows the rusty red shoulder patch in the CA specie which has earned this raptor its common name, the red-shoulder hawk. A bit closer to the BG than I had hoped but does show the habitat.

This one really impressed me! Perfect wing position and pose with that slight head turn and stare that gives you a real connection with the bird. Light, details and comp is all spot on for me.
I don't mind the details in the background as there aren't any distracting elements and gives a feel of the low flying raptor. I would clone the little with dot right next to the eye as it's a little distracting but respect if you wanna leave it.
The thing that caught me the most though was the wattern on the hand of the wing. Those rufus, black and white lines are so beautiful and I had never seen before.

What I like most about this one is it clearly shows the species.... Red Shouldered tough to identify in
the field for me and you just posted a textbook look at one.... Should be in guidebooks.
I like the habitat in this, not too close at all for me.
