This osprey blew by by me at a pretty fast clip. I was having a hard time tracking it at its closest point. The bird was in the front of the frame in the raw file and the top fifth of the right wing was clipped.
I used several other frames to make up canvas and the primary feathers for the right wing. I know the HA could be a little better.
Great shot Jack! I like the background, although it's just a bit too busy for my taste. I don't mind the HA actually, it's the wing position that bothers me more. I might raise the shadows on the far wing a bit. I wonder if a patch of whites are blown on the bird - the head and neck are noticeably greyer than the chest. Light blue cast to be removed on the far wing - very easy fix. Great work on the cloning. I certainly wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't mentioned it in your post. Considering you've already done some cloning, I'd suggest added some canvas to the top and the RHS as the crop feels a bit too tight. I absolutely love the colors of this image. Lots to like in this frame! Well done!
That's a lot of work Jack for an image that isn't quite as good as your previous post. Head angle and the dark far wing are problematic. I don't mind the background in either image as it is a fairly even colorful pattern.
You got a beautiful series of this bird Jack! I did like the other post more though, that one was pretty much spot on and very impressive.
I think the background in this frame is very interesting but a bit less cohesive than in the previous frame. The head angle, as you mentioned yourself, is also weaker. Great exposure, details and comp nontheless.
I wouldn't normally do this much PP on an image, but I'm lucky if i get 2-3 sunny days a year to image osprey as they only migrate through Missouri.
I don't have that many decent osprey images so I the spent 15-20 minutes to make it look a little better.
