I thought, let me introduce a new bird to this forum.

The Yellow-wattled Lapwing (Vanellus malabaricus) is a resident of India, belows to the waders. It lays eggs in the ground. On the sign of danger, the chicks lie down on the ground and their excellent camouflage helps them in evading detection.

Ofcourse, this one is an adult. Shot with Canon EOS 40D, Canon EF 400mm f2.8L IS USM, ISO 200, F4, 1/500, beanbag, This is a fullframe shot.

This is a really unusual-looking bird. the image shows how the camouflage works. I wish for a bit more eye contact and would have preferred a composition where the bird does not 'walk out' of the frame. Thanks for the explanation!

I agree with Axel. I find the dark leaf under the tail end distracting. It is a very nice looking bird and thanks for sharing.

Cool bird and sharp. As above, plus the bird needs some clock-wise rotation lest he fall over... Why no teleconverter???
