Very well done. I like the composition, pose, and head angle. Good clean background. This is very minor (but I tried it in PhotoShop and I felt that it improved the image), I'd consider toning down the perch a little bit. At its current level of brightness it competes with your subject. Just my opinion ;)

Great light, details, iridescence, eye contact and BG. I might put the bird a little bit further to the right in the frame, but not much. Thanks for sharing!

I agree with you Blake, but I didn't know how to do that to the tree alone, so tips are welcome :-)

Gorgeous bird, nice look back pose, and excellent detail !

Might like to see the bird just a tad further up in the frame.

Such a nice bird and such an ugly perch; I could not resist...

#1: Did you set this perch up???

#2: Used several QMs to get rid of the extra piece of the perch...

#3: Used a QM to lengthen the branch (plus some Patch Tool work to eliminate tell-tale duplication).

#3A: (left out the most important part on my first try): painted a QM of the lengthened branch. Put it on its own layer. Multiplied that layer. Reduced the opacity to 80%. Bingo: branch darkened.

#4: Used a QM to lighten the iris, and anothe to lighten the face.

Digital Basics plus APTATS can hlep you learn Photoshop and QMing very quickly...

    Hello Arthur,
    thanks for your revision.

No I didn't set up the perch, someone else did, if I should set up a perch I would have chosen a better one, not so bright and one that didn't have that broken perch on the side.

the iris is a bit to bright for me, in real live you would never see it like that with this bird.

    thanks again.

    kind regards Lesley

I'm not a big fan of the eye or face adjustment, but improving the perch is a great idea.

Hi Lesley, YAW. Good plan on a better perch. For sure I overdid the iris; if I knew the bird in life I would simply dial back on the opacity till it looked natural. It is for sure too dark in the original post.
