    Default Yellow Legs, Black Feet

For a few minutes at Cape May last week, we had a Greater Yellowlegs (shown here) and a Lesser Yellowlegs in close proximity to one another. Not close enough to capture in a single frame, but enough to give a great look at their respective shapes and sizes. Compare this with my previous post of the Lesser Yellowlegs in a similar pose -- note the slightly upturned bill of the Greater, and the length of the bill relative to the head.

D500, 500PF + 1.4 TC, ISO 3200, 1/2000s @ f/8 manual. Flat light, flat water; shot from a blind raised over the water, so no opportunity to get lower, but the height allowed to reflection to show nicely.

Good one, Bill. I like the black foot and the churned up mud under him. Adds a bit of environment. Love the top back defused light and nice details.

Although I generally like my shorebirds lower, your higher position allowed you to get the reflection nicely. The stuff on the foot works quick well as is adds contrast to the flat-light frame. Lovely eye contact. I think this is as good as were could do given the lighting.

Like the high key treatment and the reflection. The mud on the foot is a nice touch.
