From Cape May a few days ago.
D500, 500PF + 1.4 TC, ISO 3200, 1/2500s @ f/8 manual; HH. I would have preferred a faster aperture; f/8 is an unfortunate reality with the 500PF+TC. A bit of noise on the belly as a result of the ISO.

Hi Bill. This is one of my "bucket list" shots...I get them, but not this close. I agree it looks good for this ISO value. Nice colours and sharp. Would like a more oof BG, but that's what you get I guess with f8. Maybe better without the TC? This is the combo (D500+500PF) that I've been considering, but recently tried the Sony A9+200-600 lens...very impressive. TFS
Bird Head Angle and wing position looks nice.
Background does not work for me in this image. Too busy for me.

Looking good Bill...I like the detail you captured on the bird, nice colours, flight pose and HA. I don't mind the BG, it looks natural.

Lovely frame of this ubiquitous subject. I have zero decent shots of male mallard so this is good motivation. Exposure and pose look good, but it would be nice to have another stop of blur on that background. Great look at this species though.
Really nice dynamic pose and wing position but the D500 doesn't do well at ISO 3200, here the details are mostly lost....but what really distracts me is the BG which has been blurred and looks a funky...overall not an ideal situation

Thank you all for looking. Arash, no blurring was applied to the BG. But I agree that a stop or two would have been good, were it possible with this combo.
