Default Theme: Eurasian Dotterel on the tundra

    Hi everyone,

Here's another one from this summer. This time from my trip to the Swedish mountains in search of some arctic shorebirds. One of the targets was of course the Dotterel! Here is a adult female. Dotterel is one of those shorebird species where the female is actually more distinct in its plumage and more "beautiful" than the male, same as in phalaropes for example. In hindsight I wish I could have gotten a frame where I could see the feet but I also went this low to include the blue at the top which I still quite like. All comments welsome as usual!

Love the low angle, details, killer striated BG and of course the flowers. Absolutely no nits here. TFS

    This is superb Ivan!
The soft, muted light, the gorgeous color palette and the placement of the dotterel in the frame are all topnotch.
    A contest entry for sure!

Very well done Ivan...These are beautiful birds and you have captured it at its best. The small flowers and BG colours show the bird very well indeed. Good work

Absolutely beautiful, I think this is exceptionally good.
If I was going to change anything I would remove blue from the bird, but that is all. I think there is a very slight cast on the bird's cheek.

I looked long and hard for one of these in Arctic Norway last June and all I got was sore feet ... This is splendid as usual.

The hidden feet are a non-issue here. Gorgeous setting with a great species. If anything, I'm with Jon about the hint of blues on the subject's whites, but man-o-man what a pretty image! Fantastic stuff.

Everything looks great here. Nice low angle. Spot on framing. The flowers are another big bonus. Should have entered this for the theme.
