    This is excellent Jonathan. My initial feeling when I saw this was -what an intimate portrait.
    IQ absolutely rocks. Love the low POV, the pop of color introduced by the green moss.
    I like the head feathers that are blown by the wind and clear view of the foot.
    Nice varied grey ocean BG.
    No nits from me!

    Killer BG, perch, EXP and Sh overall. The placement in the frame is perfect for this pose and I love those feathers where the bill has been buried. TFS

    Well somebody is on the shorebirds. Nice pose and i like the lichen covered rock. Nice pose,detail and background.

    Thanks very much for your comments everyone, I wasn't too sure if you would like it or not. I processed the raw file with Olympus software which is in many ways rather like DPP is for Canon. I wondered if I had perhaps made the image a little on the heavy side and possibly a little too saturated.

    Ditto all the positives above. This is a fine image of a molting young Dunlin. The bird, however, is too centered for me. I would have placed the bird on the left side of the frame ...
