I was on a birding trip/holiday to Portugal recently at the Ria Formosa area, which I would highly recommend....We hired a car and drove around to the good bird areas. This is one I captured from the car as we drove along a dirt track, through the countryside. I find it so easier to use the DO lens with the 2X attached, compared to my old 500 with the 1.4 on. And, I get 'closer'...

A lovely small-in-frame shot of the Stonechat in nice light and against a good BG. The snails are a bonus.

The snails are a great addition to this frame. Solid background with a nice perch.

That is some perch, and the snails are wonderful! It - the perch - is borderline overpowering, but the perfectly clean BG makes it easy to find the bird and sort out what's going on. I only wish his beak wasn't
so close to the branch. Frame looks pretty sharp for 2x!

I like the image with clean background.

I think you could play with the crop make it more of 2x3, eliminate the top left corner of the perch. For me the image looks much stronger in a 2x3 crop with the above (may be it is a personal taste).

Hi Krishna, I did toy with the idea of cropping some from the top, and it looked ok, it also moved the bird nearer to the top of the image, which I liked. As you said, it comes down to personal taste.
