I installed it, even though I have not head the DBS with either of the two new bodies I purchased directly, rather tna continuing to have Nikon replace them out of stock which they received last October, prior to public release of the camera.
I have seen two reports last night of folks still having issues...whether it's true or not I haven't a clue.
I find it frustrating that the D300 has not received either of the two AF firmware algorithm upgrades which the D3 has...nor the auto iso upgrade, wb upgrade, copyright symbol, etc.
As far as the AF goes, this could simply be de to the fact that the D3 has more AF processing capability (known fact) and that the D300 AF may be peaked as it is.
In a conversation with Thom Hogan yesterday, he postulates that all coding ability is being directed to the new FX platform and the forthcoming high MP camera...again, based on the same platform and that the D300 is simply considerd to be in "mainetence" status as nothing is currently being worked on relative to a high end DX camera platform.
