I had a quick gear chat with Artie at Bempton earlier this year, and he kindly loaned me a D850 and 500pf for the evening - this is one of the resulting frames - stood on top of a fence overlooking a small colony, desperately hoping for no wind as I was balancing very precariously!

The time spent with the Nikon gear (Both Arties and Anitas - thank you both) has made me think about switching - I've bought a Nikon D500 for an underwater setup, and if that works as well as I hope, I may go the full hog next year for birds as well. Not gonna be cheap!

    Nikon D850
    500mm pf
    ISO 400
    1/640th f8

    WOW! This is great.
I love the crop and how you have placed this guy slightly off center. Whites are perfect...and I mean perfect!
Killer direct gaze and I love the blue color of the BG!
    Absolutely no nits from me!

Talk about eye contact! Great stare, nice comp, love the color of the water and eye ring; perfect whites. The Nikon gear, in your capable hands, served you well.
