A fine image of the bear cub John, I like the way he is precariously poised on those thin branches and the eye contact is great. Good details and the claws showing is an added bonus. A bit busy BG but it doesn't affect the image much and shows habitat.
Well caught, I like the pose, he was obviously unperturbed just having a pee! The colours look very natural and I don't detect any cast in the fur.
I am intrigued John, you manage to post so many shots of bears and deer, what is your strategy - do you know these mountains like the back of your hand or do you hide in a blind or perhaps go to visitor centres where they are perhaps more used to seeing humans? It must be amazing to be able to get within approachable distance so frequently.

Thank you Jonathan. I don't think i have posted that many pictures of bears. The deer i photograph are usually pretty tame. Never have been in blind for them. The bears are pretty easy to find in the smokies. Just look for the bear jams. Cars up and down the road and of course the photographers all lined up with their tripods. This guy and his mother and siblings were right next to the gift shop eating the cherries in the trees.
Hi John ... a killer image i think !!!
Really love the innocent look the cub gave you !!!
Lovely pose and great eye contact . Well controlled blacks and the framing is about perfect .
Well color matter of taste .... i might treat the leaves a bit more to the green side of the spectrum .
Hi John, great to see a different subject, and also something that will add in stretching you too, as I think you know where you are with Deer.
I think you can afford to loose about half the space at the top, having more below is better. Did you lighten the bear, if so please let me know as I want you to try something for next time. Agree with Andreas, the greenery needs more oomph and if you get blown highlights in the foliage forget them, expose for the bear. With regard to the cub urinating, he may have been simply frightened, quietly talking to them can help and keeping a low profile, NOT standing up.
