Featuring that beautiful crest which is raised during moments of excitement or agitation. This bird had just landed on the ground beneath a feeding station in my front yard. Hard direct late afternoon light.

    This is really nice Colin.
I love the colors and the way the yellow pops against the dark blue/light blue BG.
Beautiful details in the yellows and whites. Light is fine- not a deal breaker for me.You could lift the shadows along the edge of forehead slightly.
My only suggestion would be to add a sliver more on the bottom to include the entire eye ring.
Is the red a natural coloring or a stain from food? If it is a stain I could see an argument for cloning out the red.

Colin great shot. I love the details and the yellow crest. I do agree if you have more room at the bottom. Not sure but could you lighten the Iris some would give even more pop. TFS

Wonderful hairdo this guy has! The details are superb, the BG nice, the idea fits the theme well. Agree on a bit more room below.

Herewith the suggested improvements. No luck with the iris as no light penetrated from that angle. Thanks for the comments.

Lovely feather detail you have captured here Colin...BG colour shows the subject well. Those yellow feathers look great.
