Really nice shot, beautiful soft light and the wing position is great. Normally I’m not a huge fan of birds against a flat blue sky but here it really works. Great frame, thanks for sharing.
This is a nice image Colin. The light is great and as Anthony has mentioned, the wing position is great. There is some color noise present on the bird, though, especially on and under the wings. At ISO 800 on the 1DX II, that shouldn't be a problem at all, so worth a revisit there. Some additional sharpening would help too I think. Really nice though overall. TFS.
This is fabulous, one of your very best. I love seeing good images of unfamiliar wading bird species. All the positives are well-covered above.
