    Default Sandeling Preening

    I made this image in South UT last weekend.

    Camera Settings:-
    ===============
    Nikon D850 600 f/4 + 1.4 x TCIII
    1/6400 sec; f/5.6; ISO 1250
    Manual; Matrix metering




    Post Processing:-
    ===============
    Raw Processing using C1P
    Square Cropping
    Nik 25-25 Filter on Bird at reduced opacity
    Neat Image NR
    Sharpening for Presentation
    Dodge selectively
    No Cloning.

    I love the detail, setting, and colours on this image. The HA is nice. I think I may have went f/8, there's just a wee bit too much OOF for my liking, but thats personal taste.

    You did well with a potentially awkward situation. This is one of those rare time when I would not have minded more d-o-f. I'd lose the (specular highlight?) circles in the upper left.

    I am assuming that Sanderling is pretty uncommon in Utah ...

    Really like those colors in the background and foreground. The preening pose is nice as well. Nice light.

    Sanderling are common during migrations in UT. It is not a rarity. To get this background is difficult. This was taken in a lake near sand dunes.

    I do like the specular highlight from the waves and hence choose to include it in the composition.

    This is a bit different, but I like it a lot. Personally like the upper LHS, quite subtle, but makes me think about the cause.
