Another look at this bird, easy to photograph, difficult to get a good balance across the black and white.

Very nice indeed Colin, I like the colours and exposure, I would possible brighten the eye a teeny weeny bit. I really like the details in the plumage. It was unfortunate you didn't manage to get a portrait image orientation at capture.

Thanks Jon, you are correct, I have to remember to change to vertical in these situations.

Wow, I really like this. It feels very close in. How close were you, if I might ask? And, were you standing or sitting?? Is that the sky or the water as b/ground? Lovely image. Gabrielle

Looking real good Colin....I particularly like the detail and texture of the whites. Well exposed and nice colours throughout.

Thanks for all the comments. Gabriella, I was about 5 meters away and sitting, about level with the bird. Background is the water with small waves.

Sweet looking cormorant. Detail in the whites and blacks looks nice.

Excellent exposure on the plumage. I really like the difference in textures between the dark feet and dark rock.

One of you better ones Colin! I'd be OK with a touch more room at left, but all-in-all a strong image. I love that blue BG.
