There were endless amounts of poses this family of Black Skimmers gave us. Image captured on the 1st. of August at Nickerson Beach. The chicks would venture out from the comfort under the parent and occasionally stop to check us out. C&C welcome.

Baby Skimmer Chicks look so cute to me.

I wish for better head angle on chick (left side of the frame)

Excellent behavior and layout of the comp. Would love to see a little more contrast in the chicks to separate from the sand.

The pose offered by the sitting skimmer is so priceless, a smile-maker for sure! I realize you may have been roped off and could not get closer, but I can just imagine a close-up of just that one individual. Yes, a better head and body angle on the other chick would be nice. I feel that the comp becomes stronger when cropping to just above the greens at the bottom. Too cute though, and that is what it is about!

The little guy is super cute but doesn't connect with the viewer since he's gazing towards the adult. The adult adds context but doesn't offer an interesting pose or seem to be taking much interest in chick. These shots really require engagement between the two birds and that's lacking here. Agree with Daniel about cropping above the seaweed at bottom. I'd also clone of the blob of seaweed between the two birds if you keep this frame.

Thanks everyone and for your suggestions. Daniel I was curious, after you mentioned a closeup on the seated chick. Here it is.
