    Killer bkg John and lovely details. Nice choice of dof , techs look good to me. That oof blade of grass intersecting the body is adding to the image IMO, otherwise things would have been quite sterile. I might crop slightly from the top top eliminate that blackish spot.

    Super shot John, I may well be barking up the wrong tree suggesting these images need a little more tonal expression, the young will be pale I have no doubt. Love the expression - and the flies

    I would try a different approach in color and tone ( in parts ) .... just my pref .

    Hi John, cracking detail, but for me the light is just too even creating little 'depth' to the overall image. I'm 50/50 on the blade of grass and take Haseeb's point. I might have thought about a bit more DoF just to ensure the nose is sharp, but hard to tell on this one.
