This was taken in the same Pacific Northwest coastal area as the Ruddy Turnstone. Overcast to foggy conditions and flat light. I did have a difficult time taming the hotter areas of the white plumage on this one.
iso 800, 100-400 with extender at 560mm, f7.1, 1250th, handheld, A7R3, 70% full frame.

Cool bird nicely captured. Exposure looks good. If it were mine I'd take a bit more off the bottom...just above the oof sand, and clone out the distracting twig. I agree with Colin here...a lower pov would be better. TFS

Sorry to be repetitive but I agree with previous. I am a little surprised at the colours - or lack of, it looks almost monochromatic.

Very nice Sanderling shot. I agree with a bit off the bottom - not much. I'll play odd-man-out; I think the POV on this shows the great rippled texture of the sand.

I like the textured sand, and think you were wise to stay high and keep it. This was never going to be some well-lit and cracking image of this species given the lighting conditions, so the beach adds interest to what is basically a monochrome shot.

No postprocessing desaturation here. It was foggy and moderately early in the morning when this was taken.

I like this jsut as presented! The patterns in the sand make for a very appealing artistic element. If anything, and it will seem minor I know, I would clone out the small white speck on the sand directly under the tail. Other than that, kudos!
