    Hi all,

A wren preening a couple months back. Have frames with this one posing with the eye open, etc, but thought this was a 'peaceful' pose. In post, NR, corrected WB, cropped to ~60% of the FF.

    Camera: Nikon D500
    Lens: 500mm f/4 + 1.4 TC
    Specs: 1/640 f/6.3 ISO 3,600

Thanks for looking and commenting on prior posts!

I'm non the fence with this one. On one had the face is sharp and well angled, but on the other hand I find the splayed oof back feathers too much. I've never seen an image of a wren preening though, so that is a huge bonus as these guys do not normally stop for so long! Good perch and BG.

Excellent deep but appropriately saturated colors. I like to detail and the background but would prefer to see perhaps an eye a little better.

I never would have known their feathers turned to charcoal below what we see at the surface. The colors and BG are great, but this is a tough image for me because of the thin focal plan and mostly missing eye. I do applaud the effort to show something different.

Nice effort, needed an eye for me also.

Thanks all, much appreciated...figured this one would be 50/50. This one preened for about 5 minutes in front of me so was able to get an array of fun poses with the eye open as well...mostly the same DOF, but a couple at f/8 where I got lucky. Best,
