Amazing time in Sandy Hook. Photographed 9 warbler species within 100 ft area on one morning. This common yellow throat was in full song. Given that they are usually skulking around deep in bushes, it was nice to see this one perched.
Hey Barry,
Greetings from another Jersey boy! The exposure here is very good and i also like the perch. One of the hardest things at the hook is to get the BG's pleasing without much clutter especially where these guys like to hang out. The branches intersecting the ird are probably the most bothersome for me and a bit of head turn towards us would also have helped maintain his focus with us. Moving to the left a bit may have gotten some of the distracting element out of the way and made the image more parallel to the plane.
Roman makes some fine points here. I might add to the eye socket is dark and the eye itself is lost somewhat in the blacks. Looks like you had some harsh light. Overall, nice for what you had going. Sounds like the trip was worth the efforts. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for the great feedback. Agree background is distracting. Still hunting for that clean background on one of these guys. Some good tips for next time .. appreciate it.
Great singing pose and details. Adding to the other comments, the bright feathers look a bit overexposed and you could desaturate the yellows a few points. I also wish for more head turn toward you. Keep them coming!
